A Fermenting

November 13, 2022 Nathan Richardson

It’s a beautiful warm fall day,

One that endears itself despite the season’s subtext.

Finally unwound on the winding trail,

With the last bit is straight uphill away from the lake.

The view is beautiful at the top and

the gnarled old sentinel still has fruit.

But rotting ground apples perfume the air and

Geese are gathering in the fields.
