Old Photograph's Glow

January 21, 2018 Nathan Richardson

Brothers, sisters and cousins

Running around together.

Mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles

Seemed all the same.

We remember card games, snowsuits

and skating on the river.

Horseshoes, fishing poles and

Tinkering in the barn.

If for a moment, it was youth, acceptance and love.

But times passes, truths are spoken,

Rigidity creeps in

and people drift their way.

The same warm sun shines on that place today

But the people and glow have gone.

So enjoy your time at the big old table

When chairs, plates and hearts

Are full.

Drawing, music and words by Nate Richardson. Read by Andrew Pieper.
